What
are the Rates of Pay like?
In the UK rates of pay are standard
between Health Authorities. All now use a band system, and within each band
there are increments based on nursing experience.
On top of your basic salary,
you will also receive 'London Weighting' (this is an extra amount added for working
in Central London), a London allowance (5% of annual salary, also for working
in London) and "lead" payments depending on your nursing speciality.
Private Hospitals will negotiate salaries according to their own remuneration
scales. Our experience provides us with a good idea of what will be possible in
a negotiation situation and it is our business to ensure that you are offered
a package that is in keeping with your skills.
On Tax and NI (tax that
contributes to health care/pensions provision), we will advise you further on
application. As a rough guide 20% of your total earnings goes to the UK Government
in taxes. We will be in a position to advise on your exact earnings once we reach
the stage of negotiating salaries.
Salaries range for registered nurses from "Band 4 " grade
to "Band 7/8 " grade within the NHS Pay system.
The private
hospital system typically offers higher pay and each hospital will have their
own pay structure. We are here to advise you on the best possible package
for your skills and experience.
We will also be in a position to advise on other benefits available, such
as holiday entitlement (up to 6 weeks within a NHS Hospital).

What
about education and courses?
Yes. This is one aspect of the UK
nursing profession that is taken seriously, and this means that the UK has the
highest quality health professionals - maintaining the reputation of UK hospitals
and nurses the world over.
Most Hospitals and Health Care Organisations
offer either in-house education program or will fund further study off site.
London Hospitals will often pay for time off as well as course fees. The introduction
of PREP (a system where nurses keep a record of further education and courses
to ensure continuing registration with the NMC) ensures that hospitals provide
the necessary higher education to ensure that their nurses meet and exceed
the PREP requirements.
Health Professionals are involved in innovative schemes
that enable nurses to gain experience and education in other specialist areas.
Such training for example could result in moving from a general qualification
to say a paediatric registration or a degree or masters award.

How
do I register with the NMC (Formally UKCC)?
Our application form will detect your eligibility for full registration with
the NMC and we will email you information on the next step that you need to
take in this process.
(1)
Our status with the NMC means that we are in a position to streamline applications
through once you have made an initial application.
(2) A significant
delay with the NMC system is the time it takes to deal with a very high volume
of incoming mail. Once sorted, every document then has to be scanned into the
UKCC database, thus taking further time.
Health Professionals will monitor the progress of applications on a daily
basis,
thus greatly speeding up the process.
In order to practice as a Registered
Nurse in the UK you must be registered with the NMC.
Each application is
assessed on an individual basis, taking into account both education and experience
gained as a nurse. The NMC application process can be a little daunting, but
we
are here to make your application as easy as possible, and will organise all
the details for you. We also have a unique method of processing payment for
fees,
which we will share with you when you are ready to pay fees to the the NMC.
Should your have any questions regarding
applying to the NMC, please just ask.

do I open a Bank Account?

will advise you
on the exact steps needed to open a bank account. Once you bring the right documentation,
we can usually have you set up with a bank account on the same day you visit

How
do I get a Work Permit and Visa?
Simple. Health Professionals are
happy to help you every step of the way. If you are a non-EU citizen it is likely
that you will need permission to work in the UK, which comes in the form of a
work permit. In order to obtain a work permit, you will first need an
offer of employment, which, of course Health Professionals will arrange for
you. Once you have received and accepted an offer, Health Professionals will
apply for a work permit on your behalf.
Health
Professionals can process work permits within 10 days or if urgent, we can
complete the whole process in less than 2 days. Once you have a work permit,
we will advise you on how to obtain an entry visa.
